NEWS BRIEF: Haitian-American teacher wins presidential award
Junior Bernadin invited to White House
A Haitian-American teacher at Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta has just been recognized by President Joe Biden. Junior Bernadin was awarded a Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring and will be invited to a ceremony at the White House.
Bernadin, 40, has been teaching at Ron Clark for 13 years, serving as the dean of students and instructional technology director as well as in coaching roles. “I’m thankful I can show students and other kids, especially of Haitian descent, this is possible and what we do best is shine in the face of adversity,” Bernadin says. “We work hard and we represent ourselves and our families in future legacies that are yet to come.” haitiantimes.com
