A man who was shot by a police officer outside an Atlanta sports venue in 2017 will receive close to a million dollars in compensation after the Atlanta City Council approved a settlement on Monday.

Noel Hall was shot at close range by Sgt. Mathieu Cadeau while in his car with his family; records show a bullet passed through Hall’s arm and exited via his chest, missing his heart by two inches. Cadeau was fired that year and was indicted in October 2018 on charges of aggravated assault, violation of his oath and reckless conduct. He pleaded guilty in early 2020 and was sentenced to 30 years on probation. apnews.com
