NEWS BRIEF: Atlanta Hawks want you to help feed a million people
Volunteers needed for six 90-minute shifts
The Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena are asking for volunteers to help prepare meals for a million people. The plan is for 600 to 900 helpers to work in six 90-minute shifts packing shelf-stable meals into containers.
“Join volunteers from the world of sports, entertainment, government and business during a fun-filled day with music, performances, free swag and more,” the team urged in a statement. “Every good neighbor that completes a volunteer shift will receive a voucher for a pair of free tickets to a select upcoming Hawks home game.”
Organizers are asking businesses, community groups, schools, churches, sororities, fraternities and individuals ages 5 and up to register for at least one shift at nba.com
