The suspension of state gas taxes, originally set to expire at the end of this month, will now be extended until July 14, according to Gov. Brian Kemp’s office. He also renewed a state of emergency order for supply chain disruptions.

The average price per gallon of gasoline in Georgia is $4.14, below the national average of $4.60, AAA says. The tax suspension saves drivers about 30 cents per gallon for gas and 33 cents per gallon for diesel. “We’ve been raking in unbelievable amounts of money,” Kemp told WSB-TV last week when asked if a continued suspension was likely to hurt the state’s economy. wsbtv.com
