Atlanta’s police department demonstrated Tuesday how a new program is successfully using publicly and privately owned surveillance cameras to address crime more efficiently. Since its introduction in January, Connect Atlanta has registered for free at least 3,100 door knob cameras and similar devices. An affiliated program has allowed Atlantans to integrate another 5,700 camera feeds with the city’s live network at a cost of $350 each.

“If you own cameras of any kind, at the bare minimum register, and if you are comfortable sharing your footage with us, integrate,” APD Major Michael O’Connor advised at a press conference attended by Mayor Andre Dickens and local law enforcement administrators. Details: connectatlanta.org
