NEWS BRIEF: Senate approves Tybee Island climate change bill
Warnock and Ossoff secure federal funding
The U.S. Senate has passed the Tybee Island Storm Risk Management Act to help curb the effects of climate change. Cosponsored by Georgia Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, the bill to secure federal funding will enable local officials and the Army Corps of Engineers to address areas affected by erosion and reinforce sand dunes to resist storm surges. According to Ossoff, the sea level at Tybee Island has risen 10 inches since 1935. The bill now heads to the U.S. House of Representatives. Details: wtoc.com
