The Biden administration has suspended Georgia’s plan to bypass healthcare.gov, quashing the state’s alternative program known as the Georgia Access Model from being implemented in November. The block means consumers in the state can still sign up for individual health plans through the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, during open enrollment this fall.

“Georgia should not take any further action to implement the Georgia Access Model as of the effective date of the suspension,” Chiquita Brooks-LaSure, administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, wrote in a letter to state officials. U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock said last week that suspending the waiver “will ensure that Georgians will be able to keep purchasing affordable health care,” and that the move will “save lives and save families money.” Details: gpb.org
