NEWS BRIEF: Black men get mental health assistance with barbershop advocacy
"Break the stigma and build a culture of mental health for Black boys/men"
My Brother's Keeper Alliance donates money for black men's mental health
The Confess Project, a mental health initiative for young Black men that uses barbers as listeners and advocates, is to receive a $25,000 grant from My Brother's Keeper Alliance, a program of the Obama Foundation. In May this year, TCP opened a clinic at the Swag Shop on Edgewood Avenue with an event featuring Justin Blu of “The Real World: Atlanta'' and musician David Banner.
A press release said My Brother's Keeper “aligns perfectly with The Confess Project’s mission to break the stigma and build a culture of mental health for Black boys/men and their families.” Details: theconfessproject.com
