NEWS BRIEF: Atlanta Black Pride announces Labor Day weekend events

Too much pride for one event

Celebrate Pride this Labor Day Weekend

Atlanta Black Pride has announced a string of events happening over the Labor Day weekend. The inaugural Atlanta Black Pride Weekend Film Festival will roll out on Saturday, Sep. 3 at IPIC in Midtown; it will have free screenings all day long of independent LGBTQ films such as Mixed Girl and B-Boy Blues.

A Sunday morning religious service in Piedmont Park will be followed by the tenth annual Pure Heat Community Festival. The event will feature market and food vendors, live performers, entertainment, educational forums, prizes and giveaways. Headliners include Joseline Hernandez (“Joseline’s Cabaret”), Kandi Burruss (“Real Housewives of Atlanta”) and Jussie Smollett (“Empire”). Appearances by Saucy Santana, Big Latto, Jhonni Blaze, Jerrie Johnson, and Melissa “DJ M” Scott are also on the weekend schedule. Details: thegavoice.com
