10 planned STATIONSOCCER fields at MARTA stations across Atlanta

The Lindbergh MARTA station was finally able to celebrate the opening of its StationSoccer field on Tuesday, Sept. 27, with partners Soccer in the Streets and the Atlanta United Foundation.

This is just one of the soccer fields built by or in-development from Soccer in the Streets’s StationSoccer program. The project will eventually build fields at ten MARTA stations around Atlanta and be home of a new soccer league.

“Atlanta is a soccer town, whether it’s played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium where we’ll host the 2026 FIFA World Cup, or at our MARTA stations across the city,” said Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens.

The first field was built in 2016 and is housed at the Five Points station in Downtown Atlanta, marking the first soccer field constructed in a transit station. Other fields are located at West End, East Point, and Kensington Station.

On the importance of StationSoccer Atlanta United Director of Community Engagement Marissa Ahrens remarked, ”StationSoccer makes the game accessible to youth across the city of Atlanta.”

Other MARTA stations getting future StationSoccer fields include Bankhead, Civic Center, Doraville, East Lake, and H.E. Holmes. mdjonline.com
