CRITIC’S PICK:

Rejoice, Resist, Rest: Images of Black Liberation, Atlanta Contemporary — Students of the Atlanta University Center Art History & Curatorial Studies Collective as well as the Spelman Photography Program were tasked with analyzing and interpreting photographs, artworks, texts, publications and other ephemera symbolic of the 20th century Black experience in the United States. These materials originated from the Chicago-based Johnson Publishing Company, known for its vast archive of Black history. This exhibition, replete with themes of freedom and liberation, is the students’ response. — Kevin C. Madigan
