Let’s Go Dancing: Paintings by Anna Jensen Honoring the Songs of Kevn Kinney, The Sun ATL — A tribute album to Drivin N Cryin frontman Kevn Kinney was released in 2023 on the Tasty Good label. Titled ‘Let’s Go Dancing: Said the Firefly to the Hurricane,’ it featured Peter Buck, Violent Femmes, Wreckless Eric, Alejandro Escovedo, Elf Power, Jason Isbell, and Pylon Reenactment Society, among other stalwarts. This exhibition of works by Kinney’s wife, artist Anna Jensen, is inspired by that record and the songs within it. Jensen’s use of saturated color, gestural mark-making and Southern imagery “owes as much to the painter’s eye as to the songwriter’s ear,” creating “an extended meditation on how another artist’s body of work can become a mirror for one’s own.” — Kevin C.
