Planet Ice at Fernbank Museum of Natural History
An immersive Fernbank Museum exhibition explores how ice shaped Earth's landscapes, climate, wildlife and human history.
Planet Ice at Fernbank Museum of Natural History invites visitors to travel through Earth's frozen past and explore how ice has shaped the planet over more than 80,000 years of history.
The immersive exhibition uses interactive displays, storytelling and more than 100 specimens to show how glaciers carved landscapes, influenced climate and helped drive remarkable adaptations in plants, animals and people. Visitors can step into Ice Age environments, encounter megafauna such as mammoths and giant beavers, and learn how ancient cold-climate worlds shaped life on Earth.
The exhibition also looks at lands now hidden beneath the oceans and traces how human cultures responded as climates changed and ice retreated. Designed for curious visitors of all ages, Planet Ice connects dramatic prehistoric environments with the forces that continue to shape the world today.
Dates: February 7 – May 3, 2026
