Giant Pandas Ping Ping and Fu Shuang at Zoo Atlanta
Zoo Atlanta prepares to welcome giant pandas Ping Ping and Fu Shuang through a new international conservation agreement.
Giant Pandas Ping Ping and Fu Shuang at Zoo Atlanta marks the return of one of the zoo's most beloved animal experiences.
Zoo Atlanta has announced a new International Cooperative Research Agreement on Giant Panda Conservation with the China Wildlife Conservation Association. The future Atlanta pandas, male Ping Ping and female Fu Shuang, were both born at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in China.
The arrival builds on Zoo Atlanta's long panda history, which began with the original agreement in 1999 and included seven offspring born to Lun Lun and Yang Yang between 2006 and 2016. For visitors, the new agreement promises the return of giant pandas to Atlanta while continuing the zoo's role in international conservation and research.
Dates: Announcement April 23, 2026
