Footwork: Celebrating Soccer, Culture, and Community at Schatten Gallery at Emory University explores the intersection of sport, identity, and cultural history through the lens of soccer in Atlanta.

Spanning the period from 1968 to the present, the exhibition examines how soccer connects to broader narratives of civil rights, globalization, and regional identity. Through objects, stories, and visual materials, Footwork traces how the sport has shaped and reflected the city’s evolving cultural landscape.

The exhibition also considers how expressions of fandom—from team affiliation to style and sneakers—become markers of identity, linking personal experience to larger social and cultural movements.

By situating soccer within the context of Atlanta’s history and global connections, Footwork offers a dynamic look at how community, sport, and culture intersect.

Venue: Schatten Gallery at Emory University
