CRITIC’S PICK:
SlopWorld: A Solo Exhibition by Truett Dietz, Wolfgang Gallery — Atlantan Truett Dietz earned his chops by working as a studio assistant for fellow artists Joe Peragine, Scott Ingram, Radcliffe Bailey, Joe Minter and Lonnie Holley. He packed, transported and hung artwork at major institutions, museums, and private collections.
Dietz, who also was an archivist and studio manager, now gets to present his own art in a solo show at Wolfgang, using “found imagery and visual fragments drawn from online culture.” One of his paintings is titled Intentions are for the Guilty / Self Loathing and Other Covert Forms of Narcissism, which gives you some idea of his approach. — Kevin C.
