Returns II brings together Charity Hamidullah, Sayma Hossain, and Masela Nkolo for the second installment of Spruill Gallery's Returns exhibition series.

The exhibition welcomes back Hamidullah, whose mural Big Hug was featured on Spruill Gallery's historic Smoke House as part of the AMPLIFY public art initiative. Joining her are fellow artists Hossain and Nkolo, whose practices similarly engage questions of identity, heritage, community, and social awareness.

Working with reclaimed and repurposed materials inspired by their cultural backgrounds, the artists create work that addresses social and societal issues that transcend geographic and cultural boundaries.

A Spruill Gallery tradition that began with the return of artist Sarah Emerson, Returns invites artists who have contributed to Spruill's public art legacy to bring their work into the gallery setting.

Artists: Charity Hamidullah; Sayma Hossain; Masela Nkolo
