Marching Church, Bernardino Femminielli, Glare
From the venue:
Elias Bender Rønnenfelt, former frontman for Danish punk group Iceage, has all the characteristics of an archetypical artist. He cannot sit still to save his life. Critics and fans have lauded Telling It Like It Is, the second full-length from his solo project-turned-septet Marching Church, as a fully realized epic. Gone is Rønnenfelt’s youthful audacity. In its place is a greater sense of melancholy. It’s not an easy listen. But as with the majority of his catalog, the appeal lies in the music’s lack of an easily defined vision, and its willingness to see what works; and it always succeeds.
