From the venue:
The considerable buzz around singer/songwriter Jessie Reyez seems warranted. Early on, the Toronto native had shown flashes of brilliance, such as in the single "Figures," that were confirmed on her recently released debut EP, Kiddo. Though her vocal range would suggest the young siren is a budding star, it's her girl-next-door-meets-vulgar-lounge-singer personality that resonates with listeners. Whether she's singing her broken heart out on "Shutter Island" or using spitfire spoken-word to address a sexual predator on "Gatekeeper," it's easy to be drawn into her raw authenticity and vulnerability.
