Yeasayer, who attended the same Baltimore high school as fellow idiosyncratic Brooklynites Animal Collective, represents the burgeoning post-millennial indie aesthetic. The group explores an eclectic musical polyglot that defies categorization and encourages the cross-pollination of pop and fringe genres. Its 2007 debut featured world music elements and choir vocals incorporated into an undulating, widescreen tapestry. The follow-up, Odd Blood, renovates the sound with dance and pop sensibilities. Swooping, swelling synths echo the '80s, while clubby rhythms crackle with a subwoofer-busting throb.
