From the venue:

Despite their many benefits, coniferous trees have been underutilized in the southeast due to the misconception that they are not suitable for our climate. Dr. John Ruter, Allan Armitage Professor of Horticulture at UGA and co-author of Landscaping with Conifers and Ginkgo for the Southeast, will share his expert knowledge of conifers best suited for the southeastern landscape and urban forest, including native species, conifers particularly suited for the urban environment, disease and pest tolerance, and adaptability.
