From the venue:The return of swampy and rambunctious Cabbagetown outfit the Rock*A*Teens has long seemed unlikely. The influential ’90s group has helped inspire indie-rock acts who came after its eight-year run together, which ended in 2002. In many ways, the past decade’s worth of indie rock remains heavily indebted to the Rock*A*Teens anthemic guitar howls, literary songwriting approach, and ramshackle performances. As the band reunites this summer, now two decades after the its inception, its members could finally receive the credit they’re due as an underrated forbearer to a genre that surged in popularity on the heels of the group’s demise.
