The members of Lafayette, La., psyche rock trio Brass Bed attribute the group’s birth to a summer spent drooling over the Elephant 6 albums. The in-part-Athens-based label’s influence is plain to hear in Brass Bed’s sweet vocals and whirring guitar. Chamber pop sensibilities cloak secretly dark lyrics such as “I lost my love/I spit her out†in “Cold Chicory.†The group is currently preparing to drop a new 7-inch via MA’AM Records in mid-November. In the meantime, see Brass Bed live when the group rolls through town Thurs., Oct. 23.
