From the venue:
The arrival of Bauhaus’ 1980 debut LP, In the Flat Field, heralded a muscular and sophisticated new chapter in the annals of British post-punk. The band from rural Northampton is hailed for kicking the coffin lid open on the so-called goth movement. But to fixate on iconic frontman Peter Murphy’s vampy traipse denies the empowering glam-punk strut and rhythms coloring songs such as “Kick in the Eye,” “Dark Entries,” and “Stigmata Martyr.” Celebrating Bauhaus’ 40th anniversary, Murphy, along with bass player and fellow founding member David J, revisit In the Flat Field start-to-finish, followed by a greatest hits set. Drummer Marc Slutsky and guitarist Mark Gemini Thwaite fill out the lineup for this tribute to Bauhaus’ Ruby anniversary.
