From the venue:

A collaboration between Institute 193 (1B) and the Elaine de Kooning House, East Hampton, New York

For the Atlanta Contemporary’s on:Site Space, Philadelphia–based artist Kambel Smith creates a temporary cardboard panorama that conflates ideas of space, bringing Atlanta’s architectural landmarks inside. Smith, a 32-year-old self-taught artist with autism, works in the crossroads of sculpture, public space, and architectural infrastructure by creating large-scale, intricate cardboard sculptures of iconic buildings. Our metropolis in miniature. The sculptures begin as cardboard pulled from the trash, then are miraculously transformed with spray-paint and a box cutter. Similar to an indoor helicopter tour we will fly high above the Tbilisi Bridge (Bridge of Peace), the Flatiron Building, and the gold dome Georgia State Capitol.
