From the venue:
his October and November, The Atlanta Opera will present 18 live outdoor performances. Designed for social distancing under a gigantic open-sided circus Big Top at Oglethorpe University, you can experience the artistry of the Atlanta Opera Company Players. In stunning new productions of Pagliacci and the Emperor of Atlantis, audiences will experience profound takes on marriage, art and society in crisis. This completely new theatrical experience is built for our time.
Each performance has limited capacity, and safety is the Atlanta Opera’s number one priority.
The circus performers in Pagliacci grapple with tragedy and question boldly whether they must perform despite heartbreak and ruin.
In The Atlanta Opera’s completely new fall production of Leoncavallo’s verismo classic, audiences enter a dystopian world where artists question their ability to perform, distance separates loved ones, and a play-within-a-play exposes a great betrayal.
