Growing in Power and Promise: African American Genealogy in DeKalb and Atlanta
Alex Haley, author of Roots, said, “In all of us, there is a hunger to know our heritage and where we come from.”
If you have a burning desire to discover your family heritage, then join us for our exciting 13th Annual Black History Month program. Presenters will engage the audience with interactive genealogy presentations, and breakout sessions, including riveting stories about some of DeKalb and Atlanta’s oldest African American families.

Winifred Hemphill, president of South-View Cemetery Association
Johnny Waits, director and curator of Flat Rock Archives
Laurel Wilson, historian of Decatur’s African American heritage
