Join Julia Skinner, founder of Root, Atlanta’s fermentation and food history company to make a simple mead using everyday tools and ingredients, learn a bit more about its history, and leave with a two jars of your own mead plus instructions for making more at home.
Dr. Julia Skinner is the founder of Root, Atlanta’s fermentation and food history company, which offers classes, consulting, and a recipe-focused membership. She’s also the author of Our Fermented Lives: How Fermentation has Shaped Cultures and Communities as well as The Hidden Cosmos: A Fermentation Oracle + Recipe Deck. She is an avid fermenter and nature lover, and is especially drawn to mead because of its simplicity and long history. Humans have been making mead for (at least) 8-10,000 years, and it’s the basis of myth and legend in Africa and Europe.
