CL RECOMMENDS
CL Critic Hal Horowitz Recommends:  It’s hard to describe TMBG’s music without using the adjective “quirky.” The duo of Johns Flansburgh and Linnell have been working this schtick since the mid-’80s, and while they haven’t scored any crossover hits, their witty cut-and-paste inventiveness and sense of unpredictable frisky fun hasn’t waned. Perhaps only cult fans know they released a pretty great 21 track album in 2022 which could have been recorded any time in their long career. Give ‘em credit for persevering this long by expanding their reach into video, soundtracks, children’s records, documentaries and anywhere else their zany approach connects. — HH

From the venue:

They Might Be Giants is an American alternative rock band formed in 1982 by John Flansburgh and John Linnell. During TMBG’s early years, Flansburgh and Linnell frequently performed as a duo, often accompanied by a drum machine. In the early 1990s, TMBG expanded to include a backing band.
