This intimate evening will merge conversation and live musical performance as we unpack the stories of the music and lyrics of “Parade” for which Jason Robert Brown won the 1999 Tony Award for Best Score. The revival of the musical, which is a dramatization of the 1913 trial and imprisonment and 1915 lynching, of Jewish American Leo Frank here in Atlanta, opens on Broadway in March.

Interviewed by Neranenah’s Executive Director Joe Alterman and the Associate Producer of The Alliance Theatre Amanda Watkins, Brown will cover topics from his Jewish background, songwriting philosophy, influences, a behind-the-curtain understanding of the music he’s written, and more.
