CRITIC’S PICK: Mike Farris, Eddie’s Attic — It’s impossible to understand why ex-Screamin’ Cheetah Wheelies’ frontman turned soul/blues singer Farris hasn’t cracked the big time. Certainly not releasing an album in six years hasn’t helped. But once you hear his searing, gospel-infused voice laying into soul classics or his own originals, you’ll be an instant fan. A recent cover of Drivin’ N’ Cryin’s “Honeysuckle Blue” will almost certainly appear on this return to Eddie’s, and maybe Kinney will make a surprise appearance to help out. No promises on that but you can be assured that Farris’ commanding vocal talents will blow you away. — Hal Horowitz
