Dweezil Zappa at The Eastern

CRITIC’S PICK: Dweezil Zappa, The Eastern—It has been four years since Frank’s guitar slinging son last hit the road with his incredible band playing dad’s complex music in arrangements so close to the originals that even hardcore Zappa freaks are impressed. This time around he’s calling it the ROX (POSTROPH)Y tour a clunky way of letting us know he’s featuring music from the elder Zappa’s most commercially successful period of the Apostrophe and the Roxy & Elsewhere albums. And there will certainly be other tunes played too. Sure the original albums are classic, but hearing these incredibly challenging compositions played live by insanely talented musicians is not to be missed. — Hal Horowitz
