CRITIC'S PICK: AJ Ghent & His Singing Guitar, City Winery —Nothing sounds quite as sweet and cutting as Atlanta-based Ghent’s touch on slide, bottleneck and pedal steel. And while adding “singing guitar” to his moniker might seem a little assertive, his work definitely does warble with a wordless voice. Some of the instrumentals lean a little too close to easy listening, and a few more Robert Randolph-styled rave-up gospel rockers would help elevate the often atmospheric, dreamy pace.
