CRITIC’S PICK: Built to Spill, Miniaturized, Variety Playhouse —The pride of Boise, Idaho has been active since 1993, although the Doug Martsch led outfit didn’t find their bluesy, Crazy Horse-inspired groove until 1997. They have ridden that sound since though, regularly releasing sprawling songs that mix focused arrangements with more meandering, rugged jamming, often compared to a less punky Dinosaur Jr. Their latest, the typically expansive When the Wind Forgets Your Name has received some of the best reviews of their career, escalating the BTS sound into more melodic areas while staying true to their indie rock heritage. This show is titled There’s Nothing Wrong with Love-30th Anniversary Tour, so expect plenty of music from that 1994 album. Always worth a look. — Hal Horowitz
