CRITIC’S PICK: The Aristocrats, Vinyl. It’s “The Duck Tour” for this power instrumental/hard rock/prog trio as they play most of their hour-long new album, not surprisingly titled Duck. It’s loud, in your face, and incredibly accomplished music for fans of the Dream Theater/King Crimson style of art-rock fusion with touches of jazz and metal. There’s a convoluted story to the lyric-free tunes which seems unnecessary but adds another layer to these guys’ muscular approach. Searing, intense and often relentless. Strap in. - Hal Horowitz
