TODAY! Exhibiting artist, Lucy Luckovich, will present a FREE Artist Talk about her solo exhibition at MCMA, “Initial Object.” Join us in the Mezzanine Galleries of MCMA today, Sunday May 19, at 2pm.
Lucy Luckovich (born 2001) uses oil painting to explore her complicated relationship with femininity. Combining different objects with appropriated images from film and pop culture to discuss themes of virginity, objectification, and oppression, she builds a visual language meshing elegance and beauty with the darkness and fear that all accompany a feminine identity. Within these observations, she confronts both her desire to revel in her identity and also her resentment for it allowing these contradictory feelings to coexist. Luckovich graduated in 2023 from Georgia State University with her B.F.A. in Drawing and Painting. The exhibition is on view through June 16.
