Origin of the Term “DJ”: The term “DJ” stands for “disc jockey,” which originally referred to radio announcers who played phonograph records on the airwaves. Over time, the term came to be associated with individuals who select and play recorded music at events, clubs, and parties.

Turntablism and Scratching: Turntablism is the art of manipulating sounds and creating music using turntables and a DJ mixer. One of the signature techniques of turntablism is scratching, which involves moving a vinyl record back and forth on a turntable while manipulating the crossfader on a mixer to create rhythmic patterns and sound effects.

DJ Equipment Evolution: DJ equipment has evolved significantly over the years. Early DJs used vinyl records and analog turntables, but modern DJs often use digital controllers, CDJs (compact disc players), and software-based systems to mix and manipulate music.
