Event Description

When Josh Cole moved to Southeast Atlanta from Kansas City nearly five years ago, he knew he would need to find a musical outlet. Music has been at the center of his life in one way or another as long as he can recall. His first outlet turned out to be open mic at Buteco where he almost immediately found a partner in crime in Justin McNeight whilst each were honing original songs of their own. Justin had come up through the Atlanta scene as a sound guy, recording engineer, and member of various bands dating back to the days when flannel and power chords were peaking.
Around the same time, Josh connected with two fellow neighborhood guys. Brody had played drums with bands in Athens, Atlanta, and New York dating back to the late 90s. Jeremy had played bass with local Atlanta bands in the same timeframe with mostly instrumental and post rock groups. Both had set music aside when kids came into their lives, but both were feeling ready to play again.
The result is Predawn Pours; a group of four playing original tunes that would be at home alongside anything from alt-country and roots rock to heavier indie … with the occasional cover of the likes of Mt. Joy, Gillian Welch, REM, etc. Their live sets are tight but raw with vocals that cover universal themes with real emotional resonance. Expect some high energy, head nodding tunes with equal measures of driving, room filling tracks with guitar solos to match, and a little brooding here and there. But only a little. Odds are good you will find them playing festivals, beer gardens, breweries, and clubs in SE Atlanta (and maybe just a bit beyond).

Graham and the Band Upstairs returns to Smith’s Olde Bar Atlanta Room on Friday, April 12th,  this time joined by Crooked Roots and Predawn Pours. Expect an evening of Southern Rock, Blues, Bluegrass, and Folk music. This will be Predawn Pours and Crooked Roots debut Smith’s show. Both bands are comprised of lifelong musicians, many with Atlanta roots. Crooked Roots are a trio who play a mix of originals and covers adapted to their acoustic, bluegrass aesthetic. Predawn Pours play original music with a range that includes foot stomping and a little shoegazing.
