CRITIC’S PICK: Sarah Potenza, Eddie’s Attic—Powerhouse belter Potenza is still riding on her career-making performances on The Voice. She seems to have dismissed recording albums in lieu of releasing a slew of singles, many of them covers. Her diversity in material ranges from a thunderous take on Jefferson Starship’s sappy “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” to a mesmerizing bluesy version of Nick Lowe’s “(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding.” It starts as a ballad and ramps up to a rollicking, gospelized crescendo. Seeing her explosive, brassy gig in this small club is an event not to be missed. — Hal Horowitz
