CRITIC’S PICK: Jan Brett’s ‘Alice in a Winter Wonderland’ Bus Tour, Decatur Baptist Church - Jan Brett, best-selling author and illustrator of children’s books (The Mitten, The Nutcracker, The Snowy Nap) comes through town plugging her new effort, Alice in a Winter Wonderland. Starting at 5:30 p.m., Brett will create a live drawing of some of the characters (Cheshire Cat, Duchess, King and Queen, that sort of thing) followed by a book signing. No doubt she’ll take questions as well. Customers must have bought a copy of the book from Little Shop of Stories in order to get it signed, though copies will also be available on site. “When Alice spots a white rabbit checking his pocket watch before hippity-hopping down a crevasse in an Alaskan glacier, she knows she must follow him,” the synopsis tells us. “So she pops down the rabbit hole into a world of absurd personalities, topsy-turvy action, and laugh-out-loud silliness.” - Kevin C. Madigan
