CRITIC’S PICK: A Kaleidoscope of American Music, Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra — Composer and conductor Bernard Herrmann scored many of Alfred Hitchcock’s films before bitterly falling out over the music for ‘Torn Curtain.’ That still leaves ‘Vertigo,’ ‘Psycho’ and others extant, which the Johns Creek players will perform with their usual gusto alongside works by George Gershwin and John Williams. Los Angeles Philharmonic Principal Trumpet Tom Hooten, formerly with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, will be guest artist. New music by local composer Michael Kurth is also in the schedule, and the whole shebang falls under the baton of Paul Bhasin. — Kevin C. Madigan
From the venue:
Guest conductor Paul Bhasin unveils a Kaleidoscope of American Music, where we showcase the depth, complexity, and diversity of our nation’s musical heritage. Featuring LA Philharmonic Principal Trumpet Tom Hooten, this concert will highlight pioneers like George Gershwin and modern voices, including John Williams and Atlanta’s own Michael Kurth.
Don’t miss this epic season finale concert!
