From the venue:
“With an astonishing array of subtly molded sounds, superb breath control, flawless articulation and, above all, consistently eloquent phrasing, Pahud elevated the concerto from the charming to the sublime.”—Baltimore Sun
Internationally renowned soloist and chamber musician, Emmanuel Pahud has been the principal flutist for the Berliner Philharmoniker since the age of 22. Pahud makes his Schwartz Center debut in this recital concert with the return of acclaimed pianist Alessio Bax, whom Gramophone considers to be “clearly among the most remarkable young pianists now before the public.”
In addition to J.S Bach’s Flute Sonata in B Minor, BMV 1030 and Nicolas Bacri’s Sonata No. 3 for flute and piano, op. 156, the concert features Pahud’s arrangements of Violin Sonata No. 21 in E Minor, K 304, by Mozart; Three Romances, op. 22, by Clara Schumann; and Violin Sonata in A Major by César Franck.
