Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend
Saturday, Jan. 18 – Monday, Jan. 20
Little dreamers are invited to the Morph Gallery to explore Dr. King’s life through 39 footprints symbolizing his 39 years, with activities along the way connecting to key moments in his journey. Signs at each activity table provide insights, while a projector loops historical footage. Kids can relax in the reading nook to learn more about Dr. King, build the Atlanta skyline while imagining their own place in the world and discover how Boris Chaliapin created Dr. King’s portrait in the National Portrait Gallery.
The Museum also collaborates with the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and actor Markell Williams for a weekend honoring Dr. King’s legacy and dream for a better world. Experts from the National Center for Civil and Human Rights will be on-site to share insights, distribute pamphlets on Dr. King’s life and offer strategies for discussing the weekend’s themes with kids.
