Them Dirty Roses, Cody Bolden, Vinyl—Alabama’s Roses crank out dusky Southern rock like they invented the genre. Two guitars, bass, drums and some tough songs by frontman James Ford are all they need to rattle the walls with rugged rocking. They only have one album, but there is a clutch of new singles, one just released a few months ago, that show maturing songwriting. But live on the road and the stage is where they excel. Atlanta’s Bolden brings more twang than rock to his country with songs like “We Drank the Bar.” — Hal Horowitz
