In this paper the central role that animal and hybrid beings play in the ancient Egyptian netherworld will be discussed by referring to frames of analysis used in philosophical and anthropological studies of Perspectivism and Monster Theory.
By looking especially at images and texts included in the corpus of the ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead, we will analyze how, in the worldmaking of the ancient people populating the Nile Valley in Antiquity, real and imaginary animals of the Beyond were considered demonic powers whose agency was highly valued and feared by the human passer-by.
