Lachey Doley

CRITIC’S PICK
Tues. April 1
Lachy Doley, City Winery—Some say Australian wildman Doley is to the keyboard as Hendrix was to the guitar; a musician who pushes the sonic capabilities of the classic 88 key instrument into fresh vistas. So it’s no surprise that his insane version of Jimi’s “Voodoo Child (Slight Return)” where his rigged clavinet sounds so much like Hendrix’s guitar you’ll think he’s playing to a backing track, is one of Doley’s showstoppers. He’s got a cool, soulful Lenny Kravitz/Prince-styled voice, writes funky originals and his show-stopping live performance has to be seen to be appreciated. He’ll be previewing tracks from a new concert album on this rare Atlanta stop. — Hal Horowitz
