Kevn Kinney and Sun Tangled Angel Revival, Avon Theatre: There is no shortage of events on Kinney’s Atlanta calendar. When the venerable singer/songwriter is not fronting his longstanding Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ outfit in larger venues, he’s holding court either solo or with like-minded Americana friends for usually unplugged shows at small clubs. But this time he revives his short-lived side project for a full group show where he’s plugged-in and not tied to DNC material. S.T.A.R., as it’s abbreviated, has only released two albums, both hard to find, but they reinforce Kinney’s country intertwined roots rocking, injected with a thick dose of swamp to keep things interesting. If you like Kinney in any of his other incarnations, you’ll love this too. Hopefully he’ll continue to solidify this outfit and maybe even release new albums with them. Regardless, this is a must-see gig. — Hal Horowitz
