From the venue:

Moral distress – a widely recognized phenomenon in healthcare – occurs when someone faces a moral dilemma, moral uncertainty, or another morally challenging situation and experiences psychological distress as a result. The presenter, Hilary Mabel (see bio below), will discuss how moral distress shows up in healthcare settings; how moral distress is distinguishable from other types of distressing or unpleasant experiences (that is, what makes moral distress uniquely “moral” in nature); and how healthcare professionals can work to understand and potentially mitigate their moral distress.

Objectives:
Discuss the ethical concept of moral distress and its application within healthcare.
Identify causes of moral distress and how they might impact clinical care.
Strategize ways to mitigate moral distress felt by healthcare professionals.
