About
About the Talk:
This Artist Talk will be held both virtually through Google Meets and in-person within the Reeves House Art Gallery on May 8th from 6:30 – 7:30PM with artists Shannon Downey and Patricia Miranda! Both artists will be joining us virtually for an opportunity to speak on their artwork and themselves as well as answer any proposed questions.
About the Speaker(s):
Both of these incredible artists have found ways to use stitching and sewing to create masterpieces with stories worth knowing. Miranda’s large and vibrant lace fixtures juxtapose wonderfully with Downey’s more simplistic and seemingly delicate cross stitching. However, while Miranda’s vibrancy holds strength through visual impact, Downey utilizes words and phrases to cause their viewers to think critically. By looking past what is displayed before you, each artist is able to guide their audiences towards interactions and efforts beyond oneself. The connecting thread between these artists is their desire for art built upon community.
- Virtual is nice, but in person has it’s own perks! Come to the gallery in person for a glass of wine or a cup of coffee to pair with the night’s inviting atmosphere.

Artist Talks provide an opportunity for artists to share their work and passions with the public, as well as offer insight into the exhibition as a whole. Be part of the conversation, express your thoughts and ideas, ask your burning questions, or simply sit back and enjoy the discussion. This is an opportunity to learn about the speaker’s artistic processes as well as their other projects!
See you there!
