A Midsummer Night's Dream - Atlanta Shakespeare

Sat., Jul. 5 - Sun., Jul. 27
CRITIC’S PICK:
A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse — This enduring play with its multiple subplots, set in Athens, returns to town with Tyshawn Gooden as Bottom and Kirstin Calvert as Titania. Direction is by Kenneth Wigley, who calls the comedy “a magical journey of love, fantasy, and occupational negligence.”
On Saturday, July 12, the Tavern will host a “relaxed” performance of the play for the benefit of audience members with autism spectrum disorder and other sensory-related concerns. The next day, the audience can join a post-show Q&A session with the cast and crew. — Kevin C. Madigan
From the venue:
A fairy King and Queen come across four runaway lovers and a gaggle of amateur actors trying to rehearse a play in the forest. The magical royal couple meddles with their mortal lives, culminating in a comical cluster of confusion. But don’t worry, we’ll get to the Bottom of it.
Perfect for families and introducing someone to Shakespeare!
